Sons of Bill

“One of the most arresting bands I’ve heard in years” – Garden & Gun

From Charlottesville Virginia, Sons of Bill is made up of three brothers, Sam, Abe, and James Wilson, along with Seth Green (bass) and Todd Wellons (drums). The three eldest sons of William Wilson, Professor Emeritus of Theology and Southern Literature at the University of Virginia, the brothers grew up playing music together but never embarked on an official project with one another until Sons of Bill formed in late 2007. Since then they’ve toured extensively on both sides of the Atlantic.

The band is finishing up their fourth LP, which comes on the heels of critically acclaimed Sirens that debuted on the Billboard top 200 and #12 on the Heatseekers chart in 2012. After a year and a half of touring across the US and Europe, the band retreated to the Virginia mountains to write their most poignant set to date. Both more intimate and expansive than any of their previous work, the group brought together a dream team of Grammy-winning studio talent in Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo, Wilco), Tchad Blake (Peter Gabriel, Black Keys), and Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers) to help achieve their sonic vision.
